Mia has Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy on Wednesdays. Occupational Therapy is not helping you decide what occupation you want to go into in the future :) Yes, that is what some people ask... it's fine motor skills - picking things up, playing, grabbing with both hands, etc., and we also work on strength. Here are a few pics...

By the way, I weighed Mia on out scale today and she was 22 lbs! She has been between 20-21 for the past 8 months or so, so it's nice to see she's finally gaining a little weight...

Mia has Physical therapy and Speech therapy today - she's doing really well with both. In Physical therapy we work on sitting, standing, and transitioning to different positions. Mia is a quick learner and is responding well to a new approach to PT with her therapist Tami. Tami is excellent with Mia and we are excited about the progress she has made. I will be posting some videos of PT as soon as I figure out how :) In Speech therapy we work on communication -Mia has to make choices between 2 objects by either sound or touching which one she wants - it's so cute. She chooses between bubbles or a ball, or this food or that food. Then we work on feeding. Mia loves to eat, but she is not that coordinated with her tongue so we have excercises and techniques we do to teach her to chew and move the food around better. She is obsessed with food and I can't wait until she can eat more solids. Right now she is just eating mashed up stuff and anything soft, yogurt, pudding, chunky baby food, etc. We are glad it's Friday so we can have three uninterrupted days with Miss Mia!

As you know, Mia has every type of therapy possible - Physical, occupational, speech and play therapy... sounds fun huh? So basically 4-5 home visits a week... Although she is making some progress with this therapy, it is very SLOW progress. So we have decided to try a different type of therapy called CME (Cuevas Medek Exercise) that was invented by Ramon Cuevas. It is a special type of therapy that triggers areas in the brain to initiate reflexes required for mobility. Basically helps kids with movement disorders to walk. The catch is, the therapist lives in Chile. Yes, as in South America... Of course, the one type of therapy that may work for Mia has to be a 10 hour plane ride away. So, we are in the process of planning the trip now. We will go for the month of November. I will update this regularly with her progress until then, and then daily while we are in Chile. Yay!
